Meditation - is a practice to drop the internal drama of life and become more centered and focused in one's true self.


We cannot live in the past or the future, but many people suffer by constantly reliving their past in their mind or fearing the future. Meditation is the practice of paying attention to what is happening in the present moment without judgment or drama. We all have an inner storyteller that is always ready to take a feeling, an emotion and weave a story, a drama, around the feeling. Sometimes the story creates doubt and fear of unknown futures or remorse judgments on our past. Meditation conditions us to keep returning to the present moment and in doing so we let go of these self-created judgments and thoughts. This practice brings clarity to us, moment by moment and we begin to see our true selves and a clearer picture of the world.

 

There are many meditation practices, some of which are stepping stones to higher levels of meditation and consciousness. The repetition of mantra, the focus on a mandala or a garden as tantra, meditation while doing breath work (Qigong) and being mindful in our everyday activities. Even eating or shoveling snow can become a meditative, mindful practice.
